Oxfordshire-based pub company Brakspear has awarded six of its pubs £2,000 each to invest in their business after they were recognised in the first Brakspear Hospitality Awards. The awards were made to the tenants who achieved the highest or most improved scores in the company's mystery customer scheme, introduced last year.

Ettington Park Hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, has been named Hand Picked Hotels' Hotel of the Year 2010. Hospitality businesses led the way on the Sunday Times list of the best big companies to work for, with seven of the 25 firms featured. Bourne Leisure, the umbrella company that encompasses Butlins, Haven Holidays and Warner Leisure, was top of the hospitality heap, being placed fourth in the list.

Food service firm Lexington Catering has scooped 11th place in its first entry on the Sunday Times list of the top 100 companies to work for. Lexington, one of only three hospitality businesses to feature, was the only contract caterer on the list and was also awarded a maximum three-star "extraordinary" status.

A mild from Gloucestershire-based Cotswold Spring Brewery has won the title of SIBA Supreme Champion Beer 2011. The 3.9%abv beer, called Old Sodbury, was named alongside other National Beer Competition winners at the end of SIBA's national conference in Stratford-upon-Avon last week.
