Claire Gilbertson of the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London, has been named the first recipient of the British Association of Hospitality Accountants' Hospitality Revenue Director of the Year award. The award was one of two new categories to be introduced at the BAHA's Finance, Revenue Management and IT Awards of the Year.

Joel Fagg, operations manager at Barcelo Walton Hall, has won the 2011 Acorn Scholarship. Fagg, who took the title following a final at Abode Chester last week, has won a scholarship valued at more than £7,000.

Pride Catering has become the first UK contract caterer to achieve the Soil Association's Gold level Food for Life Catering Mark. The top accolade, which recognised the caterer's efforts at St Stephen's School in Twickenham, came less than six months after receiving a Silver Award.

Hotels which have used innovative solutions to cope with the challenges of running an individual property are invited to enter the HRS Robert Ragge Award for Innovation. The award is open to both small hotels (fewer than 50 rooms) and large hotels (more than 50 rooms).

Pizza Express founder Peter Boizot, who celebrates his 81st birthday this week, has been awarded a lifetime achievement award at the Peach Factory Hero & Icon Awards for his outstanding contribution to the restaurant industry. Boizot opened the first Pizza Express on Wardour Street, Soho, in 1965.
