Prestige London, Sodexo's fine dining, catering and hospitality provider in the capital, has appointed Mark Parfait to the role of head of food operations. Parfait is expected to focus on craft development and food operations across all Prestige London sites.

The minimum wage rose from £5.93 per hour to £6.08 on Saturday, an increase of 2.5%. The minimum wage is decided each year by the Low Pay Committee (LPC). It was introduced in 1999 at £3.60 an hour for adults.

Lindley Heritage has scooped a five-year contract extension at Malvern Theatres worth £4m. The partnership was originally formed in 2005 with the current five-year deal due for review in 2013. But three years in, the West Midlands arts centre has taken the decision to extend the catering agreement to a full 10-year contract.

Sodexo has won two new contracts in Northern Ireland with a combined value of £2.1m, following the award of the ISO 9001 quality management accreditation to the company. The food and facilities management provider is the first in Northern Ireland to be given the accreditation for the entire business.

The Government is set to scrap or simplify 60 regulations governing the food and hospitality industry, following feedback from the industry. Tourism minister John Penrose (announced the move today after the public and businesses made 600 comments as part of the Government's Red Tape Challenge.

Compass is expected to see a decline of around 1% in its organic revenue in the UK and Ireland for its full financial year, which ends at the end of September. The company said in a trading update this morning that while new business remained solid and retention rates were improving, difficult economic conditions were resulting in a "modest contraction" in like-for-like volumes.
