Celebrity chef Mark Hix is to open a 150-seat restaurant in the Tramshed building in Shoreditch, east London, next month. The former Chef of the Year Catey winner, who already operates six venues in the capital, as well as a restaurant in Lyme Regis in Dorset, will open Tramshed together with business partner Ratnesh Bagdai in May.

Chefs Rick Stein and Mark Hix are among the famous faces to feature in Sir Peter Blake's recreation of his iconic album sleeve for the Beatles' Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. London restaurateurs Chris Corbin and Jeremy King, celebrity cook Delia Smith and design entrepreneur Sir Terence Conran also feature in the new Blake design.

Celebrity chef Cyrus Todiwala OBE cooked lunch for the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh as the royal couple kick-started their Diamond Jubilee tour. The chef-patron of Café Spice Namasté was supported by his wife, Pervin, as well as a brigade of chef peers and students from three of London's top culinary colleges.

Gordon Ramsay is suing his former associate at Montreal's Laurier BBQ restaurant for more than £1m after he terminated the celebrity chef's association with the eatery. Ramsay has filed a lawsuit against Danny Lavy, suing for Cdn$2.25m (£1.4m) in lost licensing fees due to alleged breach of contract.

Jamie Oliver is to open a branch of his new restaurant concept, Union Jacks, at the Bluewater shopping centre in Kent in the summer. The new site will be the second restaurant opening for the celebrity chef at Bluewater, where he already operates a Jamie's Italian. It will be located on the lower Thames Walk at the entrance to the recently opened Plaza.

The line-up for the regional finals for this year's Roux Scholarship has been announced. There will be a total of 18 young chefs competing for a place in the finals, 13 of whom are entering the competition for the first time. The two regional finals will take place on 8 March at University College Birmingham and the University of West London.

Gordon Ramsay has said he is "surprised and saddened" by the owner of his Canadian restaurant's decision to terminate his association with the eatery. The celebrity chef opened Laurier Gordon Ramsay in Montreal on a consultancy basis last August, taking over the 75-year-old Rotisserie Laurier BBQ, which was previously a local favourite.
