Former Celebrity Big Brother winner Alex Reid has called for supermarkets, banks and big business to fund free, healthy school meals for all children, in a speech in parliament. Reid, the ex-husband of glamour model Katie Price (aka Jordan), said he wanted school packed lunches to be banned.

Michelin-starred chef Brett Graham is to cater for more than 150 top British chefs, restaurateurs and food producers at a reception at Number 10 Downing Street today. Aspire Hospitality has won a £2.5m catering contract at Ragley Hall, the Grade I-listed stately home in Warwickshire. The caterer, a division of the Wokingham-based Aspire Group, will deliver food retail and hospitality services within Ragley Hall Park and Gardens, as part of the five-year deal.

The UK's branded restaurant market is set to exceed £13.6b by 2015, according to a new report released by Allegra Strategies. The finding comes on the back of a survey of 12,000 consumers about their eating-out habits and almost 300 industry leaders about their expectations for the industry.

Rhubarb Food Design's Henley-based operation has been appointed as an accredited caterer at Temple Island Meadows. The venue, located on the banks of the River Thames at Henley-on-Thames, is operated by the Copas partnership, which has been running events there for more than 30 years.

Pub company the Craft Beer Co is to open its second outlet, with the launch of a pub in Brighton. The group, which opened its first outlet in Clerkenwell, east London, last June, has taken over the former site of the Florist pub in Brighton's Upper North Street.

A new hotel group, Puma Hotels' Collection, has launched after taking over 20 properties across the UK from Spanish hotel company Barceló. The new group encompasses 21 four-star properties across the UK, including the 152-bedroom Imperial hotel in Torquay and the 77-bedroom Lygon Arms in Gloucestershire.

Restaurant and bar operator Ignite Group has appointed Tina English as managing director of its Bumpkin group of restaurants. English will start at the company, which currently operates three Bumpkin restaurants in London - in Notting Hill, Kensington and Westfield Stratford City - in May.

Shane Osborn, former head chef and co-owner of London restaurant Pied à Terre, is moving to Hong Kong to become head chef at restaurateur Alan Yau's St Betty. Osborn, who left Pied à Terre after 13 years last spring to travel around the world with his family, will head up the all-day dining restaurant.
