TV chef Jamie Oliver was among the winners of the 20th Caterer & Hotelkeeper Awards, known as the Cateys, unveiled last night at London's Grosvenor House hotel.
Oliver picked up the evening's Special Award.
The winners in full were:
- Independent Hotel of the Year - The Vineyard at Stockcross, Berkshire
- Group Hotel of the Year - Claridge's, London
- Menu of the Year - Restaurant Sat Bains, Hotel de Clos, Nottingham
- Manager of the Year - Patrick Stapleton, Hilton Northern Ireland
- Newcomer of the Year - Peter Gordon and Anna Hansen, Providores restaurant, London
- Food Service Caterer of the Year - Linda Halliday, director, Wilson Storey Halliday
- Pub Industry Award - Steve Wilkins, managing director, Lewis & Clarke
- Pub Operator of the Year - Philip and Stephen Harris, the Sportsman, Whitstable, Kent
- Best Independent Marketing Campaign - Room, the Bourse Courtyard, Leeds
- Best Group Marketing Campaign - Holiday Inn
- Tourism Award - John Thurso
- Independent Restaurateur of the Year - David and Rona Pitchford, Read's, Faversham, Kent
- Group Restaurateur of the Year - Andrew Guy, chief executive, City Centre Restaurants
- Chef Award - Marcus Wareing
- Education and Training Award - David Foskett, associate dean, London School of Hospitality & Leisure, Thames Valley University, Ealing
- Special Award - Jamie Oliver, chef-proprietor, Fifteen, London
