The USA Rice Federation is offering a free magnetic saucepan rice chart that features cooking quantities and methods. It will attach to your fridge, microwave or stove.
What's more, there's also a free booklet Food for the Soup - a colourful journey through African-American and Caribbean Cookery.
It contains recipes such as Pumpkin 'N' Peas Coconut Rice, Salt Cod Pelau, Southern Cakes 'N' Coleslaw and Groundnut Vegetable Stew.
There are several different types of American rice such as milled white rice (husk and bran layers removed) or regular milled brown rice (husk removed, bran layer retained). Or opt for the easy cook (parboiled) versions of both.
Another choice is Wild Rice, an aquatic rice, with a deep black appearance which is available mixed with either brown or white rice.
