To give you inspiration and ideas for kids' menus, Padley's has produced information sheets for menus for kids under 11 years old. These offer serving suggestions on one side and product information and dietary facts on the reverse.
Serving suggestions include ideas on how to capitalise on events from British Sandwich Week and Easter through to Harvest Festival and Halloween.
For example, for a meal to mark Wimbledon Tennis fortnight, how about Chickwich Nuggets served with spicy lattice fries and mushy peas or for the football season - Chickwich in an oval bun with curry sauce served with chunky chips?
The range for the under 11s includes Crispy Corn Chicken Nuggets, Breaded Chicken Breast Burgers and Chick 'n' Teddies.

Getting the balance right
A total of 10,000 British Meat Foodservice posters Getting the Balance Right have been sent out to schools. The poster is designed to encourage pupils to think about their own eating habits and to demonstrate that red meat can be part of a health diet.
It forms part of the criteria in the government led 'Health School Awards' which requires a balanced plate poster to be on show to pupils at all times.
A Welsh and Halal version of the poster are available.

Thumbs up for nuggets
A total of 93 per cent of parents said "yes" to including Unger Sausage Nuggets from Freshbake Foods on the school menu, while 94 per cent of children said they liked the flavour.
The product consists of seasoned pork coated in a golden crispy crumb. Each 19g nugget deep fries in six minutes or oven bakes in 15 to 18 minutes with a three nuggets serving.
Many parents thought that Sausage Nuggets provided a change to chicken-based products.

Frozen dough from Eurobuns, under the Panefresco brand, is supplied in a pre-portioned ball that makes one individual pizza. All you do is defrost the dough ball, allow to stand at room temperature, form into a pizza base, add tomato sauce and toppings and bake in an oven.
Available in five sizes, giving a choice of 9in and 12in pizzas in both thin crust or deep pan formats, together with a 15in deep pan option.

Raising awareness of hygiene
Razwana Mahmood from Education Contract Services, the education catering suppliers company, recently visited High Fernley Primary School in Bradford to help children learn all about basic food hygiene.
During their lesson, pupils learnt about cross-contamination, the importance of washing hands and how incorrect disposal of rubbish or unclean surfaces can attract pests.
Razwana says: "We are keen to raise awareness of food hygiene. It's important for children to learn the significance of food hygiene especially with simple things like washing their hands."
