London remains the most profitable city to run hotels within Europe, according to TRI Hospitality Consulting’s latest Europe HotStats survey.
The capital’s income before fixed charges per available room (IBFC PAR) of €84.29 (£57.38) in 2005, placed it 25% higher than its nearest rival Paris.
However, Paris did see the highest increase in profit at 22% year-on-year with IBFC PAR of €67.33 (£45.83), although the previous year had been weak for the French capital.
Managing director of TRI Hospitality Consulting, Jonathan Langston, said: “London is the city in Europe every hotelier wants to be in.”
Dublin saw the largest fall in profit with a decline of 25.8% resulting in IBFC PAR for the full-year of €35.07 (£23.87).
The strongest performance during 2005 in terms of revenue per available room (revpar) was again Paris with €152.47 (£103.78).
By revpar, London was placed third in 2005, below Milan with €127.40 (£86.72), but Langston said higher business costs in Paris meant London and Milan remained more profitable places to operate.
