Make a fair cup of coffee
Union Coffee Roasters has introduced Café Maraba Bourbon, a new "Fairtrade" Arabica coffee. This has been sourced direct from Rwanda's Abahuzamugambi Co-operative. Members are given a fair price for the coffee from Union Coffee Roasters in return for their quality beans.
Steven Macatonia said: "When we first tasted the coffee, we were tantalised with the quality and saw what we felt was a hidden potential in the beans. We felt the flavour quality could be improved after the beans had been through carefully controlled multiple washings."
A Coffee Washing Station was installed and after five months, when Steven tasted the coffee again, he said:" The resultant coffee was outstandingly sweet and zesty - it really seemed to capture the spirit of Maraba and Africa in one cup."
Comic Relief is supporting Cafe Maraba Bourbon as it has made grants to Avega, an organisation that helps survivors of the Rwandan genocide, following the atrocities that occurred in 1994.

Twin urns
Marco-TSE Catering Equipment has launched the new MaxiBrew Twin, a high capacity boiler brewer.
The machine has two urns, so you can have a continuous supply of coffee at any time. Each urn holds up to 11.5 litres - that's a capacity of 80 cups of coffee. It is available with a choice of power ratings - 6kw single phase; 9kw 3-phase or 14kw 3-phase. It can brew and serve up to 650 cups of coffee per hour.
As the unit is less than 30 in wide, it takes up very little valuable counter space.
There is a separate hot water tap for tea, which can deliver 90 litres of hot water per hour and up to six litres rapid draw-off without affecting the brewing capability.
Once brewed, the coffee is stored in a stainless steel urn that keeps it in good condition and at optimum storage temperature.

Imagine your customers being presented with a quality cup of coffee or tea and then having the taste completely ruined by a burnt fat-tasting UHT whitener.
Research commissioned by Pritchitts revealed respondents said Millac Maid and Half Fat Millac Maid long life products taste just like fresh milk in tea and Café Maid, the luxury coffee creamer, also tastes great in coffee.
