Door options
The Bar-Gain Complete series of back-bar chillers launched by Coolpoint AHT comprises single and triple door models to complement the existing CMV250 double door cabinet. A new  stainless steel model of the double door cabinet has also been introduced. The new additions feature internal lighting and incorporate self-closing doors in sliding or hinged options. Recommended selling price of the CMV150 (single glass door) is £374 and the CMV350 (triple glass door) is £688. 

The Coolpoint range also now includes the CCP 001, a single door 820mm high stainless steel fridge with digital temperature read-out and easy glide wheels. It has sufficient space for eight Gastronorm trays and list price is £775.

Open all hours
The Bar-top branded display cooler from Liebherr has double glazed glass door specially designed for frequent opening. Specification includes a quiet running, low maintenance rear wall condenser and one piece moulded interior. Other additions to Liebherr commercial cabinets include Profiline refrigerators and freezers and several new freezers designed to pair up with existing fridges.

Liebherr's UK distributor Coolectric also showed a system which enables refrigerators and freezers to be stacked one on top of the other, thus saving valuable space in cramped circumstances.

Chill or freeze
The Platinum range of blast chillers from Trimco is Gastronorm compatible, spanning capacities from 3 to 40 1/1 trays and can be used for cook/chill work (from 65°C to 3°C in under 90 minutes)or for fast freezing (down to -18°C within 240 minutes). Control functions are operated through a programmable electronic control panel and most models also have a probe for monitoring the food temperature plus UV sterilizing light. Accessories include trolleys for up to 40 1/1 trays.

It's a blast
Polaris blast chillers and blast freezers are available in countertop and counter-height models (8 and 13 kg chill capacity respectively) as well as taller cabinets with 18 and 30 kg capacities. All models are Gastronorm-compatible. A 13 kg Prep Top Blast Counter is priced at £2891 and and 8kg countertop Compact chiller costs from £3755

A chilling pair
The Sadia refrigeration range offers two cabinets capable of fast chilling and freezing. The STO5 can take up to 5 x 1/1 Gastronorm trays and is rated to chill batches of up to 16 kg of food from 70°C to 3°C within 90 minutes. Set for fast freezing, it can take a batch of up to 12kg from 70°C to minus 18°C within 240 minutes. Price is £2,900.

Its big brother the ST14 takes up to 14 x 1/1 Gastronorm trays and has a substantially larger batch chilling and freezing capacity (65kg and 50 kg respectively). price is £5,180. Standard features of both cabinets include core probe, rounded interior corners for ease of cleaning and castors.

Think small
Foster blast chillers and freezers for restaurants, pubs  and smaller catering establishments include the the BCF 10/5 combined chiller freezer which has a chill capacity of 10kg per cycle and freeze capacity of 5kg per cycle. The range of reach-in cabinets extends from 10 to 50kg while full-height roll-in cabinets - using trolleys which are compatible with combi-ovens - can handle from 75 to 150kg batches. The company also makes modular units with chill capacities from 70 to 280kg and freezer capacities from 60 to 180kg, and Controlled Thaw cabinets able to handle 20 or 70kg of food in each batch.

Style beers tamed
The Irinox Chilly Billy blast chiller - designed primarily to provide a reliable supply of chilled beers in busy bars and nightclubs -  is able to fast-cool up to 144 bottles of beer in 30 minutes. Specially developed using established Irinox blast chilling know-how, it is thought to be the first unit of its kind specifically designed for chilling drinks rather than food. The range of four sizes deals with 24, 48, 96 or 144 bottles respectively. Prices range from £1000 to £5000.

For food chilling and freezing, Irinox makes an extensive range with batch capacities from 20 to 250 kg per cycle. Latest features include Logik Chill intelligent programming which enables cooked products to be chilled down rapidly straight from the oven using core temperature probe measurement. Functions include Hard Chill Plus specifically to deal with difficult products such as thick joints of meat in addition to Soft and Hard chilling programmes.

Control choices
Key features of the Williams range of dual function reach-in blast chiller/freezers include easy-to-use 1-2-3 control panel and an exclusive airflow design for even chilling. The time display links to a food probe for automatic control irrespective of product load and further connections to a range of temperature monitoring systems is possible. A choice of soft and hard blast cycles is available and cabinets can work in ambient temperatures up to 43°C.

Cabinets accept Gastronorm 1/1 pans and are made in 10, 20, 30 and 40 per kg chilling capacities (from 70°C to 3°C in 90 minutes). Freezing to -18°C is possible within 240 minutes.
