Simpson’ hotel in the West End of Aberdeen has been sold off a guide price of £12m through Knight Frank Hotels.

“This is probably the biggest hotel deal to have happened in the North East this year,” said David Reid, partner at Knight Frank Hotels.

The new owner of the hotel in Queen’s Road is Manorisms LLP, a local company that operates serviced accommodation at nearby Kepplestone Manor.

“We were not searching for a hotel purchase, but the synergy of being able to run two complementing high-class businesses in the West End of Aberdeen, within walking distance of one another, was of irresistible appeal, ” commented Manorisms director Tim Philpot.

The hotel offers 50 en-suite bedrooms (including two four-poster suites), a 60-seat lounge bar, and the Simpson’s Brasserie which can seat 140 customers inside, plus another 40 on the terrace during the summer.

On-site parking is available to guests.

Manorisms plans to retain the hotel name along with the existing management and staff under director Martin Brown.

Funding for the acquisition came from Bank of Scotland Corporate in Aberdeen, which also provided finance for Kepplestone Manor.
