Self-destructs in 30 seconds
DayMark food safety systems, the US labeling company is entering the UK market, as the first step of its strategy to launch across Europe.

One of its best-selling products in the US is the 'Dissolve-a-way' label, designed to dissolve in under 30 seconds in any water temperature. Both label and adhesive are 100% biodegradable and are designed to withstand the cooler and freezer environments.

The UK team headed by Blake Chandler, Director of International at DayMark, is currently in negotiation with leading UK distributors.

Now you see it, now you don't
Paxar has launched new labels called DissolvX which are guaranteed to disintegrate in the dishwasher, dissolving without residue.

This removes the potential problem of equipment or drain blockage. As the label dissolves during the washing process, this removes any possible misunderstanding of "frozen on" or "use by" information when new DissolvX labels are applied.

The new labels are refrigerator and freezer proof and can withstand extreme temperatures spanning between minus 40 degrees C and plus 80°C.

New dawn for pest brand
Terminix has unveiled its new identity as Ecolab, following its  acquisition by Ecolab Inc.

As its first initiative to promote best practice in the UK pest prevention market, Ecolab plans to launch a web-based reporting service, NetMaster, which will enable customers to monitor pest prevention activity on their sites nationwide.

The company operates environmentally friendly methods of pest control. Pesticide use is kept to a minimum and alternative methods used wherever possible.

It offers a range of "stand alone" services to clients including insect identification, pest prevention and hygiene audits, flying insect control, fumigation, heat treatment for the eradication of stored product insects and training in hygiene and health and safety for client staff.

Everything you never wanted to know about...

Cockroaches

Here's Ecolab's list of fascinating facts

There are about 3,500 species of cockroach worldwide, although only 19 of these are recognised pest species.

No food for a month - not even a crumb? Roaches can go without eating for a month but will only live a week without water.

The HMS Bounty was so infested with cockroaches that Captain William Bligh disinfected the entire ship with boiling water.

The Headless Horseroach? A cockroach can live a week without its head. It only dies because without a mouth, it can't drink water.

Cockroaches are supreme couch potatoes. They spend 75 per cent of their time resting!

A breath of fresh air
Clover Chemicals has refined two of its ready-to-use air fresheners to give a lighter and fresher fragrance.

Flowershop and Royal Cologne have been designed to deodorise bad odours, while at the same time create a pleasantly scented environment.

Flowershop has a subtle floral scent containing notes of peach, ylang ylang, amber and musk while Royal Cologne is a more masculine scent based on a light cologne that incorporates notes of cedarwood, rosemary, clary sage, rosewood and bergamot.

Both varieties are available in 750ml trigger sprays.
