Fairtrade and organic espressos from Cafédirect

Friday 01 June 2007 13:30
This month sees the launch of the new Cafédirect Organic Espresso Coffee Beans, developed to meet customer demands for espresso beans that are both Fairtrade and organic.

The new line contains a high volume (80%) of arabica beans from Latin America and Africa that have been specially roasted to provide an intense and smooth espresso with a rounded acidity and zest. The beans are equally suitable for bean-to-cup automatic coffee machines and traditional espresso machines and, like the existing Wholebean Espresso Beans, are sold in 4 x 1kg bags.

Between 2003 and 2006, Cafédirect claims to have ploughed an average 60% of its operating profits into tailor-made training and development programmes for the growers it has partnered.
