Gammon and chips from Brakes

A reduced-fat gammon is one of three fine gammon steak options to be launched by Brakes with accompanying chunky British chips.

The Brakes Healthier Choices Gammon Steak contains less than 2% fat and 30% less salt than standard gammon steaks. Made from selected cuts of pork leg with added water, it sells in packs of 48 x 48g.

More traditional options include the Horseshoe Gammon Steak, a 10oz whole-muscle rind-on steak that sells in packs of 5 x 283g, and the new D-cut Gammon Steak, a thicker cut that retains its moisture and sells in packs of 5 x 142g or 5 x 227g.

The chips, which are vacuum-packed for a six-day shelf life, are sold in 5kg packs freshly cut but not pre-fried to preserve the home-made feel.
