Hotel Indigo Newcastle opens today with locally inspired designs
The £20m Hotel Indigo Newcastle - the boutique brand from InterContinental Hotel Group - has opened today.
Owned and operated by Sanguine Hospitality, the 148-bedroom hotel features a Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill and the Grainger Lounge (pictured), which offers a regionally inspired menu. It is located in the city centre, near to the railway station and in easy reach of shopping, nightlife and Newcastle Utd's football ground, St James' Park.
The design of the hotel is themed around the city's Georgian, Edwardian and Victorian architectural heritage, with images of the Tyne Bridge and vaulted ceilings of Grainger Market.
General manager Adam Munday said the hotel offered an original accommodation concept for the city.
"The design of Hotel Indigo Newcastle is locally inspired and we hope its colourful, distinctive interior will bring a vibrant feel to the heart of the city centre," he explained.
The Hotel Indigo Newcastle is the seventh Indigo to open in the UK. Sanguine Hospitality owns and operates three, with properties in Birmingham and Liverpool in addition to the one in Newcastle.
