Having made inroads into the global wine market, Argentina is squaring up to the Mediterranean once again with an increasing number of olive oil producers.
One variety, sourced by Alegra Fine Foods, is Oliovita, made from the Arbequina olive variety and grown in the San Juan province at the heart of the Andes in western Argentina. The company says that the Oliovita premium unfiltered oil has a delicate, harmonious flavour with light peppery hints and good length, while the organic oil has a more fruity and light flavour.
Available in 375ml bottles (the company is looking into introducing larger-volume packaging).
