ESS Support Services, the offshore and remote business sector of Compass Group, has been awarded a three-year contract extension with Transocean Offshore (North Sea) worth £12m.

The deal will see ESS continue to provide catering and hotel services to an additional eight units that were part of the 2007 GlobalSantaFe merger. The total number of Transocean rigs in the UK and Dutch sectors supported by ESS has increased to 19 as a result.

Alain Morize, managing director of ESS, said: “We are delighted to expand and extend the contract with Transocean.  The new contract reflects a positive approach to partnership between Transocean and ESS.

“Our people are key to our success and it is seeing this in practice that provided assurance to Transocean the benefit of transferring their in-house catering and hotel services team to the ESS team.”

The transfer of 120 personnel to ESS took place at the end of July.
