Jane Goodyer, previously general manager at The Grove hotel in Hertfordshire, has been appointed managing director of the Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa in St Helier.

Goodyer replaces Anna Dowling, who is returning to London to take up the position of general manager at the Royal Horseguards, the five-star Guoman hotel.

The Grand Jersey, which earlier this year won the UK Residential Spa of the Year in the Professional Beauty Awards as well as becoming only the second hotel on Jersey to achieve a five-star rating from the AA, is currently being sold by its property investor owner, Delancey.

Goodyer said she is delighted to be taking over the running of the hotel, particularly with its new five-star status.

"All the recent awards are a testament to the hard work, dedication and commitment of Anna and her team, and I am very much looking forward to building on these successes," she said.

"I am also very excited to be working on the wonderful island of Jersey and exploring everything it has to offer."

A spokesman for Knight Frank, the agent handling the sale of the hotel, said: "There are a number of interested parties, which are currently being reviewed."
