National Cider Pub of the Year winner revealed

The Valley bar in Scarborough, Yorkshire, has been named National Cider Pub of the Year by the Campaign For Real Ale (Camra).

Run by licensee Linda Soden and husband John the semi-cellar bar is housed below a small hotel.

Gillian Williams, chairman of Camra’s Cider and Perry campaigning, said: “It was a treat to find such helpful enthusiasm for cider and perry with six on sale. This is a pub making huge efforts to fly the flag for real cider and perry.”

In its third year, the National Cider Pub of the Year takes nominates from Camra’s 87,000 members before arriving at a shortlist of four.

Shorlisted this year were: The Bell Inn in Caerleon, Gwent; The Square & Compass in Worth Matravers, Wessex; The Pembury Tavern in London’s Hackney.
