BII launches search for Britain's best pub

BII Licensee of the Year Awards 2012

The British Institute of Innkeeping (BII) has begun its search for Britain's best pub, with the launch of its 27th Licensee of the Year Awards.

The awards open for entries today (1 November) and all UK licensees can enter. BII membership is not required.

The awards seek to reward licensees that are making the most of the resources they have. The type of venue is not important, and the judges' decision will be based on:

● Demonstration of high levels of business acumen
● A clear commitment to staff development
● Entrant's passion for the licenced trade and their ability to speak knowledgeably about industry issues
● Whether the entrant is deemed to be a fitting ambassador for the industry

Discussing the awards, Neil Robertson, BII chief executive, commented: "Every year more and more licensees take the challenge and enter themselves for this prestigious award and we're expecting this year's to be the biggest yet. The BII Licensee of the Year Awards are about recognising and showcasing excellence in our industry; the process is as important as the outcome, because it encourages people to look at what they're doing and find new ways to make improvements; they're very competitive awards and bring out the best in everyone."

To enter, licensees should log on to www.bii.org/loya and complete the first-stage entry online. If they are successful in stage one, stage two entry forms will be sent to them.

The winner will be revealed at the BII annual lunch, which takes place at Grosvenor House hotel on 8 May 2012.

For more information contact Joanna Buston, marketing manager on 01276 417802 or e-mail joannab@bii.org The closing date for entries is Monday 9 January 2012.
