The Crowne Plaza London – The City has become the first hotel to win the London Green 500 Platinum Award in recognition of its progress in reducing carbon emissions.
General manager Paul Brackley received the award from London’s mayor, Boris Johnson.
Environmentally-friendly initiatives undertaken by the 203-bedroom hotel include a systematic approach to monitoring green activities, the creation of a staff awareness campaign, the installation of energy saving heating and lighting systems, and efficient waste management.
Green 500 is a London Development Agency initiative which aims to reduce the capital’s carbon emissions.
