Devonshire fine dining inn changes hands

Drew Arms

Fiona Newton and Paul Bodsworth have bought the Drew Arms in Drewsteignton, Devon, from David and Lisa Jermey.

The fine-dining inn is a Grade II-listed property in the heart of the village which skirts the Dartmoor National Park.

The inn has four letting bedrooms, all with four-poster beds and one with an en-suite bathroom, along with generous private accommodation.

The new owners, who previously ran the Sportsman Arms in Blackawton, have beefed up the menu to offer both a la carte menus and lunchtime bar snacks seven days a week.

They have also increased the inn’s capacity by refurbishing the trading areas. The new Piano Room is a discrete dining room accessed from behind the bar which can hold parties of up to 20 people.

Seating in the Aunt Mabel’s Kitchen dining room has been increased to 30, the Card Room will seat another 16 people and the Long Room function area to the rear can now cater for up to 200 guests.

The new owners also plan to landscape the gardens and restore the property’s two boules courts.

Property agent Stonesmith of Exeter sold the leasehold for close to the asking price of £149,000.
