David Graham and Richard Boon, who run two restaurants in St Ives through their Blue Mustard company, have snapped up the Truro Meadery restaurant in Truro, Cornwall.

The restaurant occupies a Grade II-listed converted church in Kenwyn Street.

The business partners plan to reopen in May after a major £500,000 revamp of the property which previous owner John Clown ran in the style of a medieval tavern and banqueting hall complete with  stained glass windows, armour, gargoyles and heraldic shields.

Blue Mustard will convert the property into a 30-seat all-day bar with a late licence on the ground floor and a 90-seat restaurant upstairs serving seafood, pasta and pizza made in a wood-burning oven.

The Exeter office of Christie + Co sold the leasehold on the restaurant for close to the £125,950 asking price.
