A restaurant owner is furious with the BBC for refusing to broadcast the humanitarian appeal for Gaza.

Manal Timraz, who owns Coventry’s Habibi restaurant, lost 15 of his relatives in the recent conflict.

“The BBC,” said Timraz, “were happy to tell my story when I lost my family, but they won’t broadcast an appeal which could actually make a difference in Gaza. This is a humanitarian appeal for people in need.

“When they did the appeal for Ethiopia they focused on humanitarian needs. Why can’t they do the same now? Their schools are destroyed and their electricity has been cut off. By refusing this appeal, the BBC is losing people’s faith. Gaza needs help more than ever now.”

Despite ITV and Channnel 4 airing the appeal, the BBC claimed it would be “out of keeping with the absolutely strict obligations we have to be impartial.”
