Lord Chips

Despite the focus on healthy eating, chips still reign supreme in the nation's affections, according to research from chilled and frozen potato specialist Aviko.

It found that 76% of consumers love eating chips and 82% expected to eat chips in pubs and pub restaurants. Furthermore, 71% expected their chips to be crispy.

Aviko's Lord Chips are traditional, old-fashioned chips with a light, fluffy interior and a crispy golden skin. Being chilled rather than frozen, they yield two or three more portions per carton than frozen chips as they contain less water. They also absorb less oil, cook more quickly (three minutes in a deep-fat fryer) and have a 21-day shelf life after production.

Lord Chips are sold in 2 x 5kg packs in 10mm or 14mm cut sizes.

But if health is an issue, Aviko's Fri'deal frozen chips undergo a unique process that means they contain less than 30% of the fat content of conventional chips after frying.

The fries are made from peeled, cut, blanched, dried and starch-coated potatoes that are pre-fried in sunflower oil. Fri'deal frozen chips are sold in 5 x 2.5kg cases.
