Kate Adie helped launch the Grosvenor House book club

Grosvenor House, a JW Marriott Hotel, has joined forces with publishing house Hodder & Stoughton to launch a book club.

The Literati book club intends to host a regular stream of authors who will lead a discussion on their latest book with hotel guests and non-residents.

Journalist Kate Adie spoke at the first meeting of the club last month when she answered questions on her latest book, Into Danger.

The second Literati event will take place on 13 April 2010 when radio presenter Libby Purves will discuss Shadow Child,  her new novel.

It is hoped that other authors signed to Hodder & Stoughton, including John Humphrys, Alan Titchmarsh and David Mitchell, will speak at future Literati events.

“Following our successful relaunch of Grosvenor house as a JW Marriott hotel, we challenged our team to create a new concept that supported our strategy of cultural authenticity,” said general manger, Anthony Steward-Moore.

“We believe this concept will succeed in engaging our guests beyond the confines of room service to encourage greater interaction. Our community relations are also important hence Literati will be open to anyone who is interested in the subject or author.”

Using foraged ingredients is nothing new but the trend has become more mainstream over the past two years. However, the wider use of foraged food in restaurants also carries a certain amount of danger.
