Weekly hotel revpar rises by 5.8% in London but drops by 7.8% in regions

Hotel revenue per available room (revpar) rose by 5.8% in London but fell by 7.8% across the regions in the week ending 16 January 2010, according to figures from hospitality research company STR Global.

Revpar at London hotels increased to £86.27, up from £81.53 in the equivalent week of 2009. Occupancy grew by 2.5 percentage points, to 72.7%, while average room improved by 2.1% to £118.60.

In the same week, regional revpar declined to £34.61 (2009: £37.54). Occupancy dropped by 1.3 percentage point (to 54.4%) and average room rate decreased by 5.7% to £63.58.

Hotel revpar for the 28 days to 16 January grew by 9.4% in London (to £70.95) but dropped by 3% in the provinces, to £28.14.
