Ma Potters to add 10 new restaurants in the next 18 months

Thursday 02 March 2006 15:56

Restaurant group Ma Potters plans to open 10 new sites across the UK over the next 18 months.

Speaking yesterday at the British Council of Shopping Centre’s Management Conference in Edinburgh, Ma Potters chief executive officer John Gater said the group would open three new restaurants this year and seven in 2007.

The first new opening is due to launch at the Xscape Braehead leisure complex in Glasgow this month.

Gater said: “Our intention is to take an even split of units in shopping centres and on the high street. We want to focus on locations which generate reasonably high levels of footfall right across the day.”

To maintain standards during the expansion, the group has beefed up its staff training programme for its 500 employees with the addition of three training managers.

Based in London, the group currently has sixteen restaurants trading as two brands, Ma Potter’s Chargrills and M.A Potters Bar Restaurant.
