Norman Springford given Lifetime Achievement Award by HIT Scotland
Norman Springford, chairman of Apex Hotels, has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Hospitality Industry Trust (HIT) Scotland.
The award was unanimously awarded to Springford, whose Edinburgh-based company owns and operates eight hotels in Edinburgh, Dundee and London, including the newly opened Apex Temple Court hotel in the capital.
Sponsored by Brakes and Caterer and Hotelkeeper, the award is bestowed annually on an individual who shows dedication to raising standards and a passion for the industry that goes beyond their job description.
At the presentation ceremony at a celebration dinner for 400 guests at the Hilton hotel in Glasgow, David Cochrane, chief executive for HIT Scotland said: "Norman is a highly respected Scottish businessman who has achieved great things for our industry and Apex Hotels is doing fantastically well in such challenging times.
Collecting the award on Springford's behalf was Angela Vickers, managing director for Apex Hotels.
Stephen Carter, chairman for HIT Scotland and 2011 Hotelier of the Year, is seen here later presenting the award to Springford, who joins a long list of previous winners including Peter Lederer, Ken McCulloch, Peter Taylor and Stewart Cameron.
"We are absolutely delighted, but as everyone realises, this is very much a team award, and it is great to see them recognised for all the hard work that they have put in over the years," said Springford.
