Ty’r Graig Castle hotel

The landmark Ty’r Graig Castle hotel on the edge of Snowdonia National Park has been sold off an asking price of  £650,000.

New owners Khalid and Jeanette Osman are first-time buyers from Litchfield who previously ran a teddy bear-making business.

The hotel (whose name means House on the Rock in Welsh) occupies a prominent roadside position on the A496 in the seaside town of Barmouth, Gwynedd, where it commands views over Cardigan Bay.

The property was built in 1891 by famous Birmingham gunmaker WW Greener as a family summer home in the Gothic style popular at the time. It retains many period features such as wood panelling, decorative floors, elaborate ceilings and stained glass windows.

The three-star hotel provides between 11 and 12 bedrooms, a conservatory-style bar, a 20-seat dining room and restaurant, and a residents’ lounge.

The owners’ accommodation includes a double en-suite master bedroom, a kitchenette and French doors leading to the rear garden.

The Manchester office of Christie + Co sold the freehold on behalf of Steve Williams.
