Local hoteliers Paul and Pamela Treseder and their daughter Louise are the new owners of Driftwood Spars hotel near St Agnes on the North Cornish coast.
The four AA diamond-rated hotel is three miles from the A30 main route through Cornwall and overlooks Trevaunance Cove, which is famed for its cliff top walks, harbour ruin, and maze of caves.
The 17th-century, three-storey hotel takes its name from the timbers in the bars, which are thought to be the spars of ships wrecked in the cove.
It offers 15 en-suite bedrooms spread between the main building and a separate chalet bungalow, the 60-seat Spindrift restaurant with further alfresco dining for 12, a residents’ lounge and an owners’ flat.
The three public bars serves up a menu of real ales that includes the Cuckoo Ale produced in the hotel’s own micro-brewery,
The Treseder family also runs the Crossroads Hotel Lodge in Scorrier, near Redruth, and the Brookdale hotel in Truro.
The Exeter office of Christie + Co sold the freehold off a guide price of £1.2m on behalf of Gordon and Jill Treleaven, who are retiring after 23 years’ ownership.
