Top chefs bag Cateys

The chef fraternity scored a hat trick at this year's Cateys, which took place at London's Grosvenor House hotel on Tuesday.

The Lifetime Achievement Award, presented only once every three years, went to Anton Mosimann for his influence on an army of the UK's leading chefs.

The Special Award was given to Brian Turner, president of the Academy of Culinary Arts and owner of Brian Turner's restaurants in Birmingham and Mayfair, who also works tirelessly to support hospitality charities and others, such as Barnardo's CancerBacup, and Children in Need.

The Chef Award went to Heston Blumenthal, whose restaurant, the Fat Duck, was promoted to three Michelin stars earlier this year.

Other award winners (see the Cateys winners brochure between pages 54 and 55 for the full results) included Newcomer of the Year, restaurant Tom Aikens; Food Service Caterer of the Year, Mike Smith of BaxterSmith, and Independent Restaurateur of the Year, Nigel Platts-Martin, joint owner of London restaurants the Square, Chez Bruce, the Glasshouse and La Trompette.
