Quality Hotel sold for close to £7m
Sited near Earls Court in London, the Quality Hotel Kensington has been sold by one investment company to another for very close to £7m. The property, which has been awarded three stars and has 72 bedrooms, was sold by International Currency Exchange to Western Heritable. The agent was Atis Real Weatheralls.
Scottish couple buy "tea house" for more than £460,000
The Skye of Curr hotel in Dulnain Bridge, Morayshire, has been sold for more than its £460,000 asking price. Built as a family home in 1902 by the Lipton family (of tea fame), the property has eight letting bedrooms, two lounges, a cocktail bar and a dining room. There is also a further bar located in a separate building. The Skye of Curr hotel was bought by Donald Coulter and his wife, who are from Drumnadrochit in Inverness-shire. The agent was Bruce & Company.
Menzies sells Lancaster hotel for close to £1.75m
Menzies Hotels has sold the Royal King's Arms hotel in Lancaster for a sum near the asking price of £1.75m. The three-star, 55-bedroom hotel was bought by an unnamed investment company and will be run by Swallow Hotels. The city-centre property has a 100-seat restaurant and a function room that can hold 60 people. The agent was FPDSavills.
Torquay hotelier sells again with Rutland hotel
The 28-bedroom Rutland hotel, a Victorian villa overlooking Daddyhole Plain in Torquay, Devon, has been sold for a sum believed to be close to the £900,000 asking price. This is the second property sold recently by Torquay hotelier Ray Marks, who now owns just the town's Gleneagles hotel, famed for inspiring the John Cleese/Connie Booth TV comedy series Fawlty Towers, and Bishops Court hotel. The unnamed buyer previously owned a three-star hotel and restaurant in Gloucestershire. Christie & Co was the agent.
Chef buys Isle of Mull hotel with own theatre
The seven-bed-room Druimard Country House Hotel and Restaurant on the Isle of Mull has been sold for close to £325,000 to chef Louise Palmer and her husband, William. The Victorian property, overlooking a glen and a river, has in its grounds a small theatre which is owned by the hotel but is currently leased out. Christie & Co was the agent.
Lochgilphead's Victoria hotel sold
Brian MacDonald from Perth has crossed Scotland to buy the 10-bedroom Victoria hotel in Lochgilphead, Argyllshire. The hotel, which has two bars, a 24-seat dining room and a one bedroom manager's flat, was sold for close to £280,000. The agent was Christie & Co.
The Fox Goes Free goes for about £1.5m
The Fox Goes Free, a pub in the village of Charlton, West Sussex, has been sold for a sum believed to be close to the £1.5m asking price. Reputedly dating from 1588, the Grade II-listed property has five letting bedrooms. It was bought by David Coxon, a businessman from the Midlands. Colliers Robert Barry was the agent. Condensed
