Family run hotels wanted

The production company behind the Hotel Inspector is looking for family-owned hospitality businesses to star in a new BBC2 TV documentary series.

Keep it in the Family is looking for family-run businesses in the hotel and restaurant sector facing the dilemma of who will take over the reins once the current owners retire.

Production company Twofour is looking for owners that would be willing to give their child a brief apprenticeship then step into temporary retirement, leaving them at the helm for two weeks.

Although two-thirds of UK industry is made up of family business, the programme makers claim less than 13% of these now survive beyond the second generation.

Twenty five years ago 70% stayed in the family.

For more e-mail Keep it in the Family by the end of July. The show is scheduled for broadcast this autumn.
