Wilson Vale relaunches CSR programme
Leicestershire catering firm Wilson Vale has relaunched its CSR programme, A Natural Choice, with a renewed outline of the company's commitments and achievements since it was first launched two years ago.
The new document outlines the caterer's progress on sustainability and other CSR initiatives undertaken. These include emissions by the company's fleet of vehicles being reduced by 27% since 2010 and a move to make 70% of all food packaging biodegradable.
Andrew Wilson, co-founder and managing director of Wilson Vale, said: "We felt it was appropriate to reflect on our progress since 2010 and consider how we can continue to reduce our carbon footprint further. There is no doubt that the core element of a strong CSR policy should beat at the heart of every company."
Wilson Vale continues to plant trees in the New National Forest for every contract gained and the company has also launched a wellbeing policy for its staff. Charitable donations have increased by 48%, CSR training is now mandatory and 50% of coffee served within Wilson Vale restaurants is triple certified, ethically sourced Origins coffee.
"These are all small steps but of course, there is always so much more that can be done," added Wilson. "Our immediate focus will be on developing an apprenticeship scheme and continuing to work with Business in the Community to provide fulfilling roles for the disadvantaged."
