Lords Group buys historic Cotswold hotel for £3m-plus

Tahir Tayeb of the Lords Group has bought Salford Hall hotel in Worcestershire for in excess of £3m.

The country house hotel in the hamlet of Abbots Salford, near Evesham, is a former Tudor manor dating back to 1470 which is now a major player in the private function and conference market and holds a licence for weddings and late-night celebrations.

It offers 34 en-suite bedrooms across the main building and Tudor Court (the original coach house).

Public areas include the 70-seat Stanford restaurant, the 20-seat Stratford bar, a 36-seat atrium-style courtyard conservatory, and five function and conference rooms (of which the largest can accommodate 50 people).

A snooker room and a spa with sauna and solarium are among the leisure facilities at the hotel, along with a walled garden and outdoor tennis court in the 2.4 acres of grounds.

Tayeb plans to use existing planning permission to build another 13 bedrooms, a swimming pool, a gym, and a sixth function room

Salford Hall hotel (a former CatererSearch Property of the Week) joins the Lords Group's existing portfolio of five hotels, of which three are in London (the Lord Jim and Court hotels in Earls Court and the Cromwell in Kensington).

It also operates the Comfort Inn in Leicester North and the West Grange hotel in Midgham Berkshire.

The Birmingham office of Christie + Co handled the sale of Salford Hall.
