A memorial service for John Halewood - the founder, chairman, chief executive officer and majority shareholder of independent drinks manufacturer Halewood International – will be held in Liverpool next Monday.

The service will commence at 7pm on Monday 7 November at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral. Attendees are being encouraged to highlight Halewood’s passion for horse racing (his horse Amberleigh House won the 2004 Grand National) by wearing his racing colours of red, black and white.

Halewood founded the company – whose drinks brands include Lambrini, Crabbie’s Alcoholic Ginger Beer and Red Square Vodka – more than 30 years ago.

Halewood’s directors have announced that the ownership and control of the group will remain with Halewood’s family, and that Judy Halewood will be joining the boards of Halewood International Holdings Plc, H&A Prestige Packing Company and Willow Water as chairman after the memorial service.

"For over 30 years John was the inspirational and entrepreneurial force behind the Halewood International group. The Halewood International Holdings Plc board will continue to ensure that this pioneering spirit and drive remains at the heart of the way we do business,” commented managing director Andy Smallman.

“Although John cannot be replaced, we are fortunate to have in Judy someone who knew and appreciated his vision, priorities and determination,” he added. “Insofar as is possible in the circumstances, we expect a smooth transition to the new arrangements.”
