Angela Harnett calls for more female chefs to enter Knorr National Chef of the Year

Angela Hartnett, the Gordon Ramsay Holdings chef, has called on more female chefs to enter Knorr National Chef of the Year 2008.

The competition, run in association with the Craft Guild of Chefs, is open to all chefs over the age of 21 working within any sector of the UK hospitality industry.

Up for grabs at the final in October is not only the coveted title but a £10,000 prize. However, those wishing to compete have only until 15 January 2008 to enter.

Hartnett, who will open a new London eaterie this year, said: “As ever, I am extremely impressed with the quality of young female chefs in the industry today. It is so exciting to see the level of talent and skill produced by women working in kitchens throughout the UK.”

“I would love to see more female chefs recognised and rewarded for their contribution and I encourage more women to enter competitions.”
