Net loss of stars for Benelux restaurants
Belgium and the Netherlands have lost four of their two-Michelin-star restaurants but gained two in the 2000 guide for the Benelux region.
In Belgium, ‘t Fornuis in Antwerp, L'Ecailler du Palais Royal in Brussels and Scholteshof in Hasselt have been downgraded from two stars to one.
Meanwhile, ‘t Molentje in Zeebrugge has climbed the ranks from one to two-star status and six of the country's restaurants have been awarded their first star.
Seven restaurants have lost their single star.
Belgium still has three three-star restaurants, De Karmeliet in Bruges, Comme Chez Soi in Brussels and Bruneau in Brussels-Ganshoren.
In the Netherlands, De Nederlanden in Vreeland now has a second star and one restaurant has won its first star.
Three one-star restaurants have relocated and retained their award.
L'Auberge in Weert, a former two-star restaurant, has closed and has been removed from the guide. Two one-star restaurants have also been stripped of their accolade.
No new stars have been awarded to restaurants in Luxembourg, but St-Michel in Luxembourg city centre and Le Bouquet Garni in Moutfort have lost their one-star status.
Belgium has 87 starred restaurants, the Netherlands has 53 and Luxembourg 10.
Thirty-one restaurants have been given a Bib Gourmand, which signifies good food at moderate prices, bringing the total in the three countries to 126.
