Marco Pierre White launches steakhouse

Celebrity chef Marco Pierre White has helped launch a new restaurant in London, with the opening of a steakhouse in the City yesterday.

Marco Pierre White Steakhouse & Grill is housed in the former Lanes restaurant on Bishopsgate, which was first launched by owner James Robertson in 2003.

The pair, who previously worked together at White’s former London venues Titanic, Drones and Quo Vadis, have collaborated to relaunch Lanes, with the former three-Michelin-starred chef overseeing the food offer.

Marco Pierre White Steakhouse & Grill, which comprises a 70-cover main restaurant as well as a 30-seat private dining room and a bar, offers a traditional British menu, with a focus on Aberdeen Angus steaks.

Other dishes include daily changing specials priced £10 comprising British classics such as Lancashire hotpot, roast rib of beef and cottage pie.

Robertson, who also owns Jimmy’s restaurant in Chelsea, told Caterersearch that relaunching the restaurant as a steakhouse offering British classics was the right thing for the City in the current economic climate.

“To succeed in tough times a restaurant needs to offer something people feel comfortable with and we’re doing just that with our menu,” he said. “Marco Pierre White is a trusted name and people associate his brand with good quality.”
