Josh Emett leaves Gordon Ramsay's Maze in Melbourne

Josh Emett, chef de cuisine at Gordon Ramsay Holding's (GRH) Maze and Maze Grill in Melbourne, has left his position, Caterersearch.com understands.

The New Zealand-born chef, who has been overseeing GRH's first Australian venture at the Crown Metropol hotel since its opening last year, is understood to have departed from the restaurant along with general manager Enda Cunningham.

The move comes after Emett has been on an extended break from cooking duty while recording MasterChef New Zealand.

A spokeswoman for GRH said: "Josh Emett is still an employee of GRH but he is on leave."

Emett first joined GRH in 2000, working his way up from senior chef de partie at Royal Hospital Road to head chef at the Savoy Grill under Marcus Wareing. In 2006, he moved to the USA to oversee the launch of Gordon Ramsay at The London in New York and later Gordon Ramsay at The London West Hollywood.

He relocated to Melbourne last January to open Maze and Maze Grill at the Crown Metropol hotel, where he also oversees room service and the spa menu.
