Radisson Edwardian to open hotel in Guildford

Radisson Edwardian will open a £60m, 185-bedroom hotel with a strong food and beverage offering in the centre of Guildford this summer.

The four-star luxury property is being developed on the site of the White Horse Hotel as a collaboration between asset management companies Marcol and the Nicolas James Group, together with the Radisson Edwardian Hotel Group.

Facilities within the hotel - the 14th within the privately owned hotel company - will include two restaurants, a dining terrace, two bars, a spa with five treatment rooms, gym, swimming pool, conference and meeting rooms.

All the food and beverage areas are being created by the Gorgeous Group, whose most recent work has included the Beaufort Bar at London's Savoy hotel.

One of the restaurants will involve a collaboration with an unnamed celebrity chef, who will produce a grazing-style menu. Meanwhile the second restaurant, designed by Martin Brudnizki, will feature a pan-Asian menu and have direct access to the street.

The terrace at the front of the hotel will specialise in more casual dining, such as steaks, salads and sandwiches. Sharing-style menus offering the likes of spiced tempura, salt chilli squid and crispy belly pork, will be offered in the main bar with seating for 120 covers.

"There is already a high standard and choice of places to eat in Guildford and we know that we have to offer something really outstanding to be successful in this location," said Linda Plant, Radisson Edwardian director of marketing.

"We've drawn on all of our experience throughout the group to provide a wide range of different eating experiences and expect that we will not just have something for every taste, but that we will have restaurants and bar that people want to come to enjoy on a regular basis."
