Mark and Amanda Knell, former owners of the Embassy hotel in Great Yarmouth in Norfolk, have bought the Hillcrest hotel near the centre of the historic city of Lincoln.

The two-star hotel, a former rectory from the Victorian era, sits in a Conservation Area tree-lined avenue that is just a short stroll from the city centre.

Facilites include 15 en-suite bedrooms to sleep 31 guests, a bar lounge, and a 16-seat dining room that can be expanded to seat 28 customers using the adjoining conservatory which overlooks the south-facing terraced gardens and Lincoln Arboretum.

There is also an owners’ flat with two double bedrooms, and parking for seven vehicles.

The Bennetts plan to refurbish the bedrooms and extend the service to include morning coffees, light lunches and Sunday lunches for non-residents.

The Leeds office of Colliers Robert Barry sold the freehold off a guide price of £750,000 on behalf of Jennifer Bennett, who has run the hotel for the past 20 years.
