The Vault is London’s ‘Fight Club’ outpost, says critic

Marina O’Loughlin discovers the Fight Club outpost of London’s dining scene in the form of Vault, a restaurant housed in the railway arches in Vauxhall.

The Metro’s food critic is slightly disconcerted by the atmosphere and moody host, chef-patron Horst, as well as being handcuffed to the tale. But it turns out the food makes it all worthwhile.

“The small windowless place is at capacity but the mood is surprisingly sombre. I'd like to say it all looks a bit grubby, but worry that makes me sound even more like Margaret Thatcher than I'm currently feeling,” she says.

Bloomberg’s food critic Richard Vines enjoys the tech-focused pan-Asian Inamo, where waiters are replaced with an interactive ordering system that allows diners to order their meal from an illustrated menu projected onto a touch sensitive screen on their table.

The London Evening Standard’s Fay Maschler finds herself slightly lost in translation at Bar Sha, while Time Out’s Guy Dimond is impressed with French restaurant The Double Club.
