Two-Michelin-starred chef Andrew Fairlie has picked up the prestigious HIT Scotland Industry Award 2006, supported by Caterer and Hotelkeeper and Brakes.

Fairlie, chef-patron of Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles, was commended by HIT Scotland chief executive David Cochrane for his efforts to raise standards within the industry and his work at the G8 summit last year.

Held last Friday (28 April) at the Hilton Glasgow hotel, the charity dinner helped raise a record £102,000.

The money will be used for bursaries and scholarships for students and those already working within the Scottish hospitality industry.
