Sodexo Prestige lands £1.6m Malaysian Airlines contract

Sodexo Prestige has landed a three-year deal with Malaysian Airlines Golden Lounge, at London Heathrow's Terminal 4, worth £1.6m.

The recently mobilised contract sees the fine dining, hospitality and events division of Sodexo provide first and business class hospitality services to the 40,000 passengers who pass through the Golden Lounge each year.

The airline has also worked with Sodexo Prestige chefs John-Somrit Cherdchuwickhaikon and Glenn Miller on the art of Far Eastern cuisine, which will be offered to first class and business class lounge passengers.

Sodexo already has a broad portfolio of airport and airline contracts, including Emirates at London Gatwick, and earlier this months its Prestige business signed a deal with International Airlines Group - the company formed following the merger of British Airways and Iberia - to provide a range of services at its Heathrow-based headquarters.

Richard Cripps, Sodexo Prestige account director for UK airports, said: "We have a very strong team working on the Golden Lounge including Glynn Lawrence, UK airports executive chef, who has a vast amount of experience in fine dining at some of London's finest corporate catering establishments, and Leanne Findley who is responsible for the smooth running of the lounge operation."

Dato Zulkifli M Shariff, London Heathrow catering and lounge co-ordinator, Malaysian Airlines, said: "The Sodexo team mobilised the contract seamlessly, achieving an instant positive impact in service and food delivery to the airline's first and business class passengers."
