A round-up of the latest news from the contract catering sector...

New MFI deal on the table for Sodexho
Sodexho has won new business with existing client MFI UK to provide catering for 5,000 employees at a further eight sites, adding to the three it already operates. The three-year contract at the new sites started on 21 June and will raise the combined annual turnover to about £4.7m. Sodexho is providing catering services at MFI's head office in north London, the national distribution centre in Northampton, Howden distribution centre and manufacturing sites in Howden, Runcorn, Stockton and two sites in Hull. Catering at these sites was previously in-house.

Grand Prix caterer on the starting grid
This weekend's British Grand Prix at Silverstone will see Compass subsidiary Letheby & Christopher catering for more than 100,000 spectators. Food and drink served up is set to include 2,112kg of beef fillet, 1,400kg of salmon, 950kg of smoked salmon, 12,000 scones, 10,000 punnets of stawberries, 3,600 bottles of Champagne, 20,000 bottles of wine and 35,000 cans of lager.

Feeding time at the zoo
London Zoo has added seven new caterers to its preferred suppliers list. Previously Leith's (part of the Compass Group) was they only caterer. It has now been joined by: Bovingdons, By Word of Mouth; Create; Fizz; Jalapeno; London's Flying Chef; and Party Ingredients. The annual catering turnover for London Zoo is £1.4m.

Compass wins RHH deal
Compass Group has won a new £730,000-a-year-turnover contract to provide catering and hospitality services at the Royal Horticultural Halls (RHH) and Conference Centre in London. Under the seven-year deal, Compass subsidiary Leith's will cater for exhibitions, banquets for up to 800 people, conferences and other events.

Just Deli adds £3m turnover
Just Deli has added 11 new clients and annual turnover of £3m within the last six months. Gains include multi-tenanted offices Apex Plaza in Reading and Newbury, Arlington Business Park in Fareham and Start Group in Woolwich.

Luton Airport outlet for Costa
Coffee bar operator Costa, a division of Whitbread, has secured its first contract with TBI, Britain's largest airport operator. It will operate an airside store at London Luton Airport.
