Sally Davis has been promoted to NEC Group catering director at the Birmingham exhibition centre. She will be responsible for leading catering at all the group's venues and its outside catering division, Amadeus. Davis has previously worked for the NEC as group operations catering manager and strategic implementation manager.

Stephane Damezin has moved to the Balmoral hotel in Edinburgh as restaurant manager of Hadrian's Brasserie, to manage a team of 20 staff. He was previously manager of Gordon Ramsay's Michelin-starred Amaryllis restaurant in Glasgow.

Trevor Brown is the new general manager of the Holiday Inn Royal Victoria hotel in London. He joins from the NHS, where he was in charge of food production and hygiene at three London hospitals. He has also worked for Irish caf‚ chain Bewley's as a food and development manager.

Sukey Pangu is the new revenue and reservations manager at the Holiday Inn London Heathrow hotel, which is managed by the BDL Hotel Group. She was previously reservations manager there.

Budget hotel chain Travelodge has chosen Guy Parsons as sales and marketing director. He joins from Whitbread, where he was managing director of TGI Friday's. As part of his new role he will also have a place on the Travelodge board.

Gloucestershire's Yew Tree Inn in Newent has added a second chef to its kitchen with the appointment of Damien Rice as sous chef. Rice was previously chef de partie at Gordon Ramsay's eponymous restaurant at Claridge's. The culinary offering is led by Paul Hackett, a former executive chef at London's Capital Club.

Andrena Salter, general manager of the Royal hotel in Thurso, Caithness, has taken on additional responsibility and become area manager for parent company British Trust Hotels. She will remain based in Thurso, but will look after the day-to-day operation and profitability of six other hotels in the group.

Jonathan Cale, has taken on the newly created role of membership manager at the Hotel & Catering International Management Association. He was previously club floor manager/duty manager at the Mayfair Millennium hotel in London.

Malcolm Starmer has taken the reins at the Gore hotel's 190 Queen's Gate restaurant as head chef. He joins the Kensington restaurant from London restaurant Lindsay House, where he ran the kitchen for three years as head chef under chef-proprietor Richard Corrigan.199
