Turner to quit Regent Inns
David Turner is to quit his role as board operations director at late-night bar operator Regent Inns on 1 November. Turner, who plans to pursue other business interests, has played a key role in the development of the group's Australian-themed Walkabout bars since he joined the company in July 2000. He came on board at a time of major change at Regent Inns, which had just bought eight Jongleurs comedy clubs out of a joint venture with John Davy.
M&C boss Potter on the move
Millennium & Copthorne's boss Tony Potter has quit his role after seven years with the company. He said he decided to leave the company to relocate outside the UK for family reasons. Potter has been a main board director at the company for seven years. He was chief operating officer for five of those years, and chief executive for the past two years.
Alden is new Maybourne chief
Stephen Alden has been appointed new chief executive of the Maybourne Hotel Group. He has spent the last decade in the USA working on development and global projects for Starwood Hotels & Resorts' St Regis brand. He replaces Geraldine McKenna, who left at the start of the year. Maybourne, formerly known as the Savoy Group, owns and operates the Berkeley, Claridge's and the Connaught in London.
Myhotels to open in Brighton
Boutique hotel chain Myhotels is planning to open its fourth UK site in the centre of Brighton. The £15m, 80-bedroom new-build property will be in the North Laine area and is expected to turn over £4m in its first year. Building work starts this month and it is due to open in September next year. Managing director Andy Thrasyvoulou said: "This is by far our most exciting project to date. The Royal Pavilions and the new developments around Jubilee Street make this the perfect location for us."
